Cole Porter was one of the most influential American composers and lyricists of the 20th century, recognized for the elegance of his melodies and the sophistication of his lyrics. Born in 1891 in the state of Indiana, USA, he showed great musical talent from an early age. He studied at prestigious universities like Yale and Harvard before fully dedicating himself to composition. He became a central figure on Broadway in the 1920s and 1930s, creating hugely successful musicals, including Anything Goes and Kiss Me, Kate. His songs are distinguished by subtle humor, wordplay, and a combination of romanticism and irony. Among his most well-known themes are “Night and Day,” “Begin the Beguine,” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” performed by some of the greatest artists of the 20th century. Cole Porter's work remains a fundamental reference in American popular music, influencing generations of musicians, singers, and composers worldwide.

The Trans-Porter Trio seeks to honor the legacy of the renowned American composer Cole Porter, revisiting some of his most striking melodies. Interpreted by alto saxophonist Pedro Rijo, the compositions gain new life through a sensitive and contemporary approach, preserving the elegance and sophistication characteristic of Porter's work. The rich and engaging harmonies create a musical experience of great artistic and sonic expressiveness. The trio also features guitarist Davide Fournier and double bassist Bruno Vítor, musicians who contribute to a cohesive, intimate, and personality-filled interpretation, celebrating the timeless universe of the American composer.

The musicians and educators in this trio — Pedro Rijo, Davide Fournier, and Bruno Vítor — have extensive experience in interpreting the so-called American songbook, composed of numerous songs known as “Jazz Standards.” These works became widely popular throughout the 20th century in the United States and later in Western musical culture, through a very particular combination of popular music, radio, musical theater, and cinema. Today, they represent a fundamental part of the history of modern music and the international jazz repertoire.
