Gabriel Gomes presents himself for the first time under his own name with Uma História Assim, an instrumental album that arises from the deep relationship he has maintained for decades with the accordion. In a completely solo format—except for the title track, where he is joined by Rodrigo Leão on piano—the musician gives voice to a musical narrative that he attributes to the instrument, but which is also his own. In the studio, the artist's breath merges with that of the accordion itself, blending performer and instrument into a single sound identity. Produced by Gabriel Gomes, in partnership with Rodrigo Leão and João Eleutério, the album is set for release in the first quarter of 2026. With a career that began in the late 80s, he was part of Sétima Legião and was a founding member of Madredeus, contributing to some of the most significant albums of both projects. At the same time, he explored the paths of electronic music in works like Projecto Om and Tjak, and created with Rodrigo Leão the group Os Poetas. He has remained an active presence on stage and in the studio, collaborating with artists like Tim and Jorge Palma, without ever straying from the accordion—his instrument of choice. In 2015, he co-founded the Fandango project, where he united accordion, Portuguese guitar, and electronics. Now, in 2026, he finally fulfills the long-held promise of signing music in his own name. Uma História Assim is the celebration of that journey: an intimate return to the accordion and to the place where it all began.
