"It was all for the neighborhood" – The SAAL in Tavira and Collective Construction
View original eventSource: Visit Algarve
"Tavira and Cabanas were the stage for two SAAL (Local Ambulant Support Service) operations carried out in the Algarve after April 25, 1974. This pioneering process sought to respond to the needs and desires of poorly housed populations in building their own homes. Residents' Associations played a central role in promoting the neighborhood, choosing the site, participating in the project, managing the construction, and distributing the houses.
