Vítor de Sousa was born in Albufeira on June 15, 1932. He had his first contact with photography at the age of 16, and it was photography that led him to journalism, becoming a correspondent for Diário de Lisboa.
He also worked with publications related to the Algarve, namely with Algarve Ilustrado, among other media outlets.
He began photographing the city of Albufeira between 1948 and 1950, continuing this work until 2016, with his photographic collection constituting one of the most relevant documentary records of the city, preserving the collective memory, identity, and history of Albufeira.
The exhibition will be open to the public until next year.
