Join us! Pedro Lopes Nogueira was an important Portuguese violinist, composer, and pedagogue of the Baroque period. He is historically notable for being the author of the oldest violin method written in Portuguese, titled Casta de Lições (or Casta de Lisões).

Family Roots: He was the son of Baltazar Nogueira and Maria de Oliveira Nogueira. Baptism: He was baptized in the Parish of São Tiago, in Tavira. First profession: Historical documents reveal that, before settling in Lisbon and Coimbra as a professional musician, he worked as a shoemaker in his hometown.
