PROYECTO JAZZ COLOMBIA is a musical project that fuses traditional Colombian rhythms with jazz, creating a space where improvisation and indigenous sounds meet. Born in Seville, Spain, in 2020, this project has already been presented at numerous festivals and concert cycles in Andalusia, establishing itself as an innovative proposal, well received by audiences of all ages.
The group consists of three Andalusian musicians with experience in flamenco and Juana Gaitán, a Colombian passionate about researching the traditional music of her country. From this connection arises a new sound, where the cultural exchange between these genres is always present. During the concert, a brief contextualization of the historical-musical connection between Andalusian and Colombian rhythms is also made. An example of this is how the tanguillo from Cádiz and the Colombian bambuco coexist in perfect rhythmic harmony.
Their first album, "De Aquel Alto Vengo", not only proposes a geographical journey through the various regions of Colombia but also invites a deep emotional journey. Through the integration of African, European, and indigenous rhythms — characteristic of Colombian music — jazz becomes the bridge that connects these traditions to modernity, providing the listener with a striking and immersive sound experience.
