Lagoa Swimrun 2026

On May 24, Lagoa will host the 6th edition of the 🏊‍♂️Lagoa Swimrun 2026🏃‍♀️, the 2nd stage of the National Swimrun Circuit 2026 and one of the best stages of the competition.

May is the month of the return of #swimrun to the magnificent coast of the Algarve for the 6th edition of Lagoa Swimrun. It is chosen by all #swimrunners as one of our best routes, with fantastic swims and stunning views along the coast that proved to be very demanding depending on the wind and weather.

Starting at the Ermida da Senhora da Rocha, athletes will traverse the trails of the 7 Suspended Valleys route, recently voted as the best hiking destination in Europe, with breathtaking views, finishing by passing through the Caminho dos Promontórios, arriving at the picturesque fishing village of Ferragudo.

Along the route, they will observe numerous cliffs and escarpments, rock formations sculpted in various shapes, and explore a handful of paradisiacal beaches and caves, some of which are only accessible by sea, such as the Gruta de Benagil or through tunnels carved through impressive algares (natural wells that connect the surface of limestone regions to underground galleries) like the beach of Carvalho. This journey also includes a mandatory passage through the iconic Praia dos Caneiros, the model photo of the Algarve.

Outside the summer crowds, it will again be a unique opportunity for everyone to discover and traverse this beautiful route, with spring in full bloom and an average water temperature of 18 degrees.

The 🏊‍♂️Lagoa Swimrun 2026🏃‍♀️ will feature a STANDARD distance of about 25.500km starting at the Ermida da Senhora da Rocha, a SPRINT distance of about 15km starting at Praia do Carvalho, and an EXPERIENCE distance of about 8km. All distances will finish in the village of Ferragudo.

The event is organized by Swimrun Portugal and has the institutional support of the Municipality of Lagoa and other local organizations.

Note: The Meeting Point / Secretariat will be at the Nautical Center of Praia da Angrinha, starting at 17:30 on May 23 and from 07:30 on May 24.
