“This title reflects the unique demographics of our studio, highlighting the learning process and artistic evolution that unites children, adults, and the mentor herself.”
The Project and the Author Founded in March 2000 in Portimão, ArtisticLine, envisioned by Ana Cardoso and her husband, transcends the traditional definition of a studio. It serves simultaneously as a specialized store and an art gallery, born with a clear vision: to fill the gap of excellent materials in the Algarve and foster local artistic creation.
In its origins, the space — which was divided between the ground floor and an emblematic basement — earned the affectionate designation of "Ali Baba's Cave" among its clients. It was a true refuge where creators, from beginners to the most experienced, discovered reference materials (such as Schmincke, Talens, Cretacolor, and Faber-Castell), original works, and a painting studio in full swing.
Currently, although ArtisticLine occupies new facilities, its essence remains unchanged. It asserts itself as a preferred destination — attracting enthusiasts who travel deliberately to visit — and a creative hub that offers not only top-notch tools but also technical advice, art acquisition, and an excellent training program tailored to all ages and proficiency levels. However, the vitality and rigor of this project are inseparable from its mentor.
Ana Cardoso: The Mentor and Artist Owner of ArtisticLine, teacher, and multifaceted artist, Ana Cardoso is the pillar that sustains this ecosystem. With an academic background in Art and Design from IADE (Creating Creators), she dedicated many years to teaching Visual Education and Arts in the Algarve's educational system. Her pedagogical vocation and desire to create an inspiring environment dictated the foundation of ArtisticLine.
With a career in the plastic and visual arts spanning over two decades, her technical mastery focuses primarily on oil painting on canvas, dry pastel, and watercolor. Her trajectory has been marked by various significant collective and solo exhibitions, culminating notably in her display at the iconic Louvre Museum in Paris in 2025 — a historic milestone that attests to the international projection and maturity of her work.
For Ana Cardoso, the act of creating is a continuous dialogue between dreamy vision and critical rigor, a constant process of discovery through which she has learned about the world and her own identity. Currently, she focuses her strategic action on the expansion of ArtisticLine, the evolution of her artistic signature, and the mission to equip more and more people with the tools to express their own art.
