Training in Participatory Intervention Methodologies in Green Spaces – MARCA ADL

On May 23, between 09:30 and 13:30, the Municipal Park of Sítio das Fontes, in Estômbar, will host the training action 🌳Participatory Intervention Methodologies in Green Spaces🌿, by Marca-ADL, with trainers Rosa Coelho and Rui Reboco, and participation is free!

As part of the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Blue Flag, this training serves as a moment of reflection on contemporary challenges associated with climate change, environmental degradation, and increasing urbanization, as well as on the path taken in the protection and enhancement of ecosystems.

In this context, it becomes increasingly urgent to rethink how we conceive, transform, and care for green spaces in cities and communities. These spaces, in addition to promoting biodiversity and contributing to mitigating environmental impacts, play an essential role in the physical and emotional well-being of populations, reinforcing the connection between people and the environment.

Participatory methodologies thus emerge as fundamental tools to integrate different knowledge, value local knowledge, and engage communities in all phases of the construction of green spaces — from planning to evaluation. This approach, aligned with the principles that guide the Blue Flag over these four decades, reinforces the sense of belonging and promotes more appropriate, sustainable, and lasting solutions.

The training aims to introduce inclusive and sustainable placemaking practices, oriented towards the adaptation and/or creation of green spaces that promote environmental quality, social cohesion, and active participation of communities.
