The Portimão Book Fair is one of the most relevant events for promoting books, reading, and culture in the municipality, serving as a privileged space for meetings between authors, readers, publishers, booksellers, and cultural agents.
The initiative takes place between June 19 and July 5, 2026, at the iconic Antiga Lota de Portimão, a reference space in the city that combines heritage, urban centrality, and a strong ability to attract audiences.
Organized by the Portimão City Council and Promobooks.net, in partnership with Bookas.pt, Páginas Otimistas, and cultural agent Analita Alves dos Santos, the Book Fair aims to strengthen the role of reading as an instrument of cultural, educational, and social development, while simultaneously promoting the democratization of access to books and contemporary literary creation.
Outdoors and free entry, the public will have the opportunity to visit various exhibition stands, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to midnight.
Over the course of seventeen days, the Book Fair will offer the public a wide range of editorial options, covering different literary genres, thematic areas, and target audiences.
Alongside the commercial and exhibition component, a diverse cultural program will be developed, integrating book presentations, literary conversations, autograph sessions, debates, activities for children, musical moments, artistic performances, and reading promotion actions.
The program, designed to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive cultural offering capable of attracting audiences of different ages and interests, will feature the participation of established and emerging authors, as well as personalities linked to literature, journalism, education, the arts, and culture.
Among the guests are notable names such as Gonçalo M. Tavares, Raul Minh'Alma, David Machado, Rita Redshoes, Inês Pedrosa, Teolinda Gersão, Pedro Chagas Freitas, Isabel Zambujal, Samuel Pimenta, Lourenço Seruya, Fábio Ventura, Miguel D'Alte, Filipa Amorim, Bárbara Cardoso, Mónica Afonso, José Alberto Quaresma, Júlia Domingues, James McSill, Virgílio Machado, Sofia Serrano, Joana Aires Gomes, Nuno Gonçalves, Sofia Brito, among others.
