The Folha de Medronho Association includes in June the national circulation of the show "It's Not Time to Point Fingers", created (text and performance) by Felipe Martinez, directed by Aline Ribeiro. The initiative includes two presentations in different regions of the country, reinforcing the association's commitment to cultural decentralization and access to performing arts.
The first session will be on June 6, in Lagos, Algarve. The second presentation will take place on June 9, in Maia, district of Porto. The shows are scheduled to start at 9:00 PM.
The work written by Felipe Martinez originated from an Artistic Residency at Folha de Medronho in June 2024 under the direction of João de Mello Alvim, and proposes a contemporary reflection on collective responsibility, social tension, and the challenges of dialogue in times of crisis. With a sensitive and provocative approach, Felipe Martinez invites the audience to question dominant narratives and rethink each individual's role in building common solutions.
The circulation of the show is also part of the Folha de Medronho Association's strategy to bring artistic productions to different territories, promoting the encounter between creators and local communities. The shows are open to the public, with expected participation from different age groups, in a proposal that crosses contemporary language and social involvement.
About the play It's Not Time to Point Fingers is a denunciation show with decolonial discourses. The play addresses the violence and abuses committed against the Latin American people since the invasion of Europeans to the present day, when colonization still reverberates through oppressions of the working class.
The play brings stories of different characters in American countries and seeks to reflect on the brutal difference in quality of life between so-called developed countries and those pejoratively called "third world". Among the events addressed, the show highlights the state of Rio Grande do Sul, emphasizing recent facts, such as workers rescued under conditions analogous to slavery and even floods and their socioeconomic impacts.
The complete text of the work was published in the book It's Not Time to Point Fingers (Praxila Editorações, 2025), which is always available to the public at the presentations of the play.
