The Dwarf Palm is also known as the Broom Palm. In the past, it was with brooms made from palm that chimneys, fireplaces, and floors were cleaned. But it is also good for cleaning sand off feet this summer. An object that uses the whole body for its creation. How? That’s what we will discover!

"EmpreitArte" is an invitation to connect with our hands, allowing them to express themselves through the palm, a native plant of the Algarve region. We will get to know the palm of our hand through the palm of a plant that has long been linked to our culture and ancestry. In each workshop, an object will be created. From heart to hand, from hand to art, we will start by creating a bookmark.

BIOGRAPHY: My name is Ana Carla Cabrita and I am from Sagres. I graduated in Business Communication and Public Relations, but soon realized that I would not be happy there. Later, when the dream of being a nature guide became a reality, I completed a postgraduate degree in Active Tourism in natural spaces in Spain. I have been a nature guide for 15 years, aiming to raise awareness about protecting the landscape around us. Personalized walks are designed to avoid impacts. The craft of weaving has been a family art, as I grew up collecting palm with my aunt Diamantina. With Manuela Caneco, I reinforced the art of weaving and creating objects. With Ana Luísa Simões, I wrote the guide "200 Plants of SW Alentejo and Costa Vicentina," which sold out two editions. Plants, art, and people are passions that come together to launch the project "EmpreitArte - From Heart to Hand," aiming to facilitate each person's connection with their hands and heart, showing that the gift of creation lies within everyone. I participate in community projects, as I believe that strength lies in being part of a sharing collective. I am the mother of a beautiful 19-year-old and meditation is part of my daily life.

Free parking - The Cultural Center of Lagos and the Municipal Library of Lagos offer free parking at the Riverside Front park (Avenida dos Descobrimentos) for the audience of their shows/events. To receive this discount, users must present, at the park's reception, a stamp obtained at the ticket office of the Cultural Center of Lagos or the entrance of the Municipal Library of Lagos. This offer applies only one hour before and up to one hour after each show/event.
