International Museum Day

On May 18, International Museum Day is celebrated, promoted by ICOM – International Council of Museums, this year under the theme "Museums Uniting a Divided World".

The initiative highlights the role of museums as spaces for dialogue, inclusion, and sharing, promoting understanding between cultures, communities, and generations. In a context marked by social challenges and inequalities in access to culture, museums assert themselves as places of learning, reflection, and building a more cohesive society.

Since 2000, International Museum Day has been aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing the contribution of these institutions to a more inclusive and sustainable future.

The Municipal Museum of Archaeology of Albufeira joins the commemoration and reinforces its role in valuing the historical and cultural heritage of the municipality. It is open during regular hours, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and closed on Mondays.
